Heat Shrink Printer
Advances in electronic technology has lead to the development of methods to keep the electronics, and the wires that inevitably come along with them, safe from harm. To this end human ingenuity has developed heat shrink tubing. Also known as heat shrink tubing, it is essentially a tube that shrinks when it is heated. heat shrink has many uses and is often used to insulate wires, connection and joints and sees a lot of use in the field of electrical engineering where it used to insulate terminals. It can also be used to repair wires, bundle wires together and to protect wires from harm. Products like heat shrink printers can even allow one to label bundles of wires to avoid confusion. heat shrink is made from a special type of plastic material that is known as thermoplastic. Thermoplastics include materials such as polyolefin, fluoropolymer, neoprene or silicone elastomer. A heat shrink printer can print on most of these and most heat shrinks are made from one or more of these materials or a combination. There are many different kinds of heat shrink materials available and one will have to shop around to find the ones that are right for the job. As in most cases where there is a wide variety available the different types are often useful for different jobs. A heat shrink is usually placed over the wires or connection that needs to be protected and is then heated. The heating of the heat shrink can occur in a special type of oven or with a hot air gun. Other less reliably methods include holding a soldering iron close to the heat shrink or even using a lighter but care must be take as heat shrink can catch fire and melt like any other plastic if over heated. The heat makes the heat shrink contract considerably to fit snugly over the wires or strangely shaped joints. This provides excellent electrical insulation and protection from dust and other foreign particles. Anything printed on the heat shrink with a heat shrink printer will still be legible if a good quality printer was used. Aside from using a heat shrink printer to label the heat shrink and thereby the wires it is protecting; heat shrink also comes in variety of colors that can also help to organize wires. This is often done inside computers for a cleaner and easier to understand finish but can just be as useful when bundling wires in an office that run close to one another. Heat shrinks are useful tools to protect, label and organize wires in any environment where wires are in large supply. With a heat shrink printer, the various colors available and some ingenuity wires can be labeled and organized to a great degree making any space more organized and protecting the wires from harm. There is a wide range of heat shrink and heat shrink accessories available for both the lay user and the more technical user. Consult experts to find the solution that is right for you. |
