A cable tie, also known as a "zip tie," is a plastic or metal fastener that is used to bundle and organize components, such as wires or cables. Cable ties are used across a wide range of industries and applications and are considered indispensable for their strength and durability when used for wire routing and cable organization.

Zip ties work like a normal strap and can be adjusted to fit snugly or leave some gap. Cable ties come in an assortment of sizes, styles and specifications—choosing the appropriate one is critical for success.

The basic design of a cable tie is consistent across most styles. To create a fastened loop, the thin end of the cable tie is fed through the "head" where it interacts with teeth that prevent the cable from moving back the other way. A loop is then formed to harness whatever you are working on. The cable can be pulled through the head until the desired loop tension is created.
